Paddling with Orca Whales

The Story of our next expedition, Paddling with Orcas

— CURRENTLY IN PRODUCTION —

For the 2nd episode of the BC Adventure Project, our team will be chasing British Columbia’s magistic aquatic mammal, The Orca or Killer Whale. Our objective will be to find and film Orca whales in their natural habitat on our man propelled kayak expedition. Orcas population are at risk due to pollution, depletion of prey species, conflicts with fishing activities and vessels, habitat loss, and whaling. We hope to bring awareness to these issues through our expedition.

Our plan may appear simple in concept but far more complex in practice. There is a group of resident and transient orcas that filter through an area north of Johnson straight. We plan to load all our expedition and film gear into kayaks and paddle over 20km to our base camp. From there we will conduct daily paddles around the broken islands of the area we are based in, in hopes of crossing paths with one of the resident pods.

Our scheduled trip dates will be in June of 2018.

The BC Adventure Project series will be available in early 2017. Subscribe to our mailing list to stay informed on release dates, updates, and chances to get involved with exploring remote areas in British Columbia.
